Six people died and 12 others were injured while working in a pharmaceutical unit in Andhra Pradesh just after 12am Thursday (April 14). It is being said that the cause of the accident could have been a fire in a reactor explosion due to a gas leak. The incident is from Akkireddygudem in Eluru district of Andhra Pradesh.

According to the information, 18 victims were working in Unit 4 of the pharmaceutical plant at the time of the fire. The fire was brought under control in two hours.

Four of the six who died were migrant workers from Bihar. The fire was brought under control in two hours.

Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed grief over the incident and announced a compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the kin of the deceased. He also announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the seriously injured and Rs 2 lakh each to those with minor injuries. Along with this, the officials have been instructed to keep an eye on the condition of the injured.

The Superintendent of Police and the District Collector have been directed to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
