England beat Sri Lanka by 26 runs

At the Sharjah Stadium on Monday, England consolidated their position with a hard-fought 26-run victory over Sri Lanka in their Group 1 match of the TY20 World Cup.


Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first, but allowed England to log 163 for 4 in their 20 overs. Jos Buttler scored an unbeaten 101 off 67 deliveries, while Eoin Morgan pitched in wht another 40 (36 deliveries).

In the bowling department Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva picked up 3 wickets for 21.

Getting into bat, Sri Lanka were bundled out for 137 in 19 overs, despite Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva’s 34 (21 deliveries) and Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s 26 (18). The main wreckers for England were Adil Rashid (2/19) and Moeen Ali (2/15).
