Manipur, second phase: 67.77% voting till 3pm

Manipur’s second phase polling started at a brisk pace on Saturday, with an average rate of turnout being 28.19% till 11am. By 3pm the rate had climbed to 67.77%.

Manipur’s second phase polling started at a brisk pace on Saturday, with an average rate of turnout being 28.19% till 11am. By 3pm the rate had climbed to 67.77%.

The highest voting was recorded at Senapati, at 74.02%. Records from other places, are as follows: Chandel 70.30%, Jiribam 67.80%, Tamenglong 57.81%, Thoubal 67.17% and Ukhrul 67.99%.

In the second phase 92 candidates are fray for 22 seats. They are spread across six districts, with a total of nearly 8.3 lakh voters, including 425,192 women and 407,224 men.

This phase is a straight contest between the BJP and Naga People’s Front in Chandel constituency, while BJP and Congress will face off in Nungba. There will be a triangular fight in five assembly seats of Khangabok, Wangjing-Tentha, Sugnoo, Mao and Ukhrul
