At least five people were killed and 14 were injured after militants stormed the police headquarters in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi, according to officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Militants attacked the police station with hand grenades and shots were fired, according to an eyewitness. Pakistan\u2019s Taliban, known as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility for the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two policemen, two rangers and one civilian were killed in the attack. This was announced by Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui, a senior leader of the Pakistan People\u2019s Party, the ruling party in Sindh province where Karachi is located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of the 14 injured, one is in critical condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The siege was brought to an end on February 17, and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah later said the three militants responsible for the attack were killed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Five heavily-armed militants of the Tehreek-e-Taliban (Pakistan) have been killed after security forces managed to secure back control of the head office building of the Karachi Police Chief which came under a daring attack by the militants in the country’s most populous city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The attack prompted the Sindh provincial government to declare a state of emergency in Karachi, according to its spokesperson, Sharjeel Memon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has condemned the attack. \u201cTerrorists may have forgotten that Pakistan is the nation which defeated terrorism with its bravery and courage,\u201d he tweeted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
