Manipur, second phase: Voting 28.19% till 11 am

Manipur’s second phase polling started at a brisk pace on Saturday, with an average rate of turnout being 28.19% till 11am.

Jiribam registered a maximum 32.68 % voter turnout, followed by Ukhrul at 30.66%. Thoubal recorded 29.55% turnout while Chandel had 28.24% turnout. Senapati recorded 27.86% and Tamenglong recorded 20.41% till 11am.

In the second phase 92 candidates are fray for 22 seats. They are spread across six districts, with a total of nearly 8.3 lakh voters, including 425,192 women and 407,224 men.

This phase is a straight contest between the BJP and Naga People’s Front in Chandel constituency, while BJP and Congress will face off in Nungba. There will be a triangular fight in five assembly seats of Khangabok, Wangjing-Tentha, Sugnoo, Mao and Ukhrul
